Loyola University’s ABSN Tracks
Loyola University Chicago is a Jesuit Catholic institution founded in 1870. Loyola offers several nursing programs, including a second-degree Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program as well as several graduate and certificate programs.
Loyola’s ABSN track is offered at the Health Sciences Campus in Maywood, IL, and the ABSN site in Downer’s Grove, IL. The program offered at their Maywood campus offers a fully in-person experience, whereas the Downer’s Grove program follows a hybrid model, requiring students to complete coursework online and go to the learning facility several times each week for labs and exams.
Regardless of which learning modality and location ABSN students choose, they will have access to skills and simulations labs which provide medical equipment and manikins to emulate a safe, mock hospital environment for student learning.
Students also will have the opportunity to carry out their clinical rotations at some of the top health care facilities in the Chicago area across a variety of nursing specialties. During their final semester, students will participate in Clinical Role Transition (CRT). During this course, they will work with a nurse preceptor for an intensive set period of clinical hours, meant to help students transition into taking active roles in management of patients.
The ABSN track has start dates in January and August each year, and in 16 months, students can graduate from the ABSN program, completing the curriculum over four full-time semesters.
